EasyCGI Overview
EasyCGI initially began as a regional Internet service provider in 1994. In 1998, they decided to take the plunge and offer web hosting services worldwide. This amounts to over ten years of experience for EasyCGI, which definitely deserves some gratitude. The company is reliable in terms of uptime and support are concerned -- however, better deals exist for the price of EasyCGI's packages.

EasyCGI Cost of Hosting
For $7.96 a month, EasyCGI offers 300 MB of disk space, 15 GB of bandwidth, 20 POP3 e-mail accounts, support for PHP, ASP, PERL, and more. This plan is overpriced because for the same price, companies like LunarPages offer more than double the amount of disk space, bandwidth, and fifteen times the amount of POP3 e-mails you can have. Also, for $7.96 a month, EasyCGI does not support FrontPage or let you have any MySQL databases. Also, this company does not offer a money-back guarantee either.

EasyCGI Customer Support
EasyCGI offers e-mail support and a self-help section that is available via their control panel. The self-help section features many tutorials on using the control panel, as well as guides on configuring such programs as Outlook Express to check your e-mail and CuteFTP to upload your files. A knowledge base is also available in this section, which covers many advanced topics in addition to help for beginners. EasyCGI also offers toll-free telephone support.

EasyCGI Control Panel
On top of offering not enough disk space or bandwidth, another weakness of EasyCGI is their control panel. Their panel isn't the most resourceful around, because it does not provide you with as many functions as other control panels. Expect simply the most basic aspects of any control panel, such as modifying account information, editing e-mail aliases, and checking traffic logs.

EasyCGI Facilities
EasyCGI is currently moving its data center to Pearl River, NY. The new facility is over 15,000 square feet, uses a 500 kW generator, 125 KVa UPS, and over 60 tons of A/C. A preview of the new facility can be seen on the left side of this page. The center will of course be equipped with the latest security measures to ensure the safety of your site's data.

EasyCGI Conclusion
EasyCGI is not the top on our list because they do not provide you with as much disk space and bandwidth that other companies provide. Nor can you create MySQL databases with their basic account. They are not on the same page (in terms of features and control panel) as some of the other hosts I have reviewed, which makes you wonder if this host is worth it.
