StartLogic Web Hosting
StartLogic Overview
Although StartLogic looks to be a newer company, the people behind StartLogic have actually been involved in the hosting industry for many years. StartLogic is more diverse in terms of the plans it offers -- ranging from basic, Windows, virtual, to even dedicated web hosting. On top of your traditional means of support, StartLogic also offers a number of other useful ways to help you overcome your problems (see below). Above average server uptime has also been seen with this company.
StartLogic Cost of Hosting
For $7.50 a month, StartLogic gives you 1000 MB of disk space, 40 GB of bandwidth, and support for PHP, PERL, FrontPage, and more. The plan also comes with a free domain name if you prepay for one full year of hosting (recommended). If for some reason you are not satisfied with them, you can always get a full refund within the first 30 days of your stay.
StartLogic Customer Support
As I mentioned previously, StartLogic has resourceful support section. Their in-depth self-help resources, which are available on their web site, cover everything from getting your web site started to helping you with advanced level topics. As I mentioned earlier, StartLogic itself is a newer company, but their self-help section alone shows that the people behind the company are very accustom to the industry as a whole. StartLogic also offers e-mail support and a toll-free telephone number. The rating you see for customer support on the top left side of this page is 3 because response times via e-mail are not as fast (but still fast: same-day response) as some of the other hosts on this site.
StartLogic Control Panel
Like iPowerWeb, StartLogic currently has the vDeck control panel installed on their servers. The panel makes managing a web site easier, and offers tutorials, walk-thrus, and a help center on a variety of different topics. This panel is also great for the average beginner webmaster.
StartLogic Facilities
StartLogic operates a data center out of Phoenix, Ariz. The facility provides redundant optical fiber connections through Cox, Qwest, ELI, and a number of multiple Internet backbone providers such as UUNet, Broadwing, and more. The facility was strategically located in Phoenix due primarily to the city's protection from extreme climate and being home of the world's biggest power plant.
StartLogic Conclusion
Through their uptime, self-help resources, and server reliability, StartLogic has shown that they are in fact veterans in the world of web hosting. They are more than capable of competing with the enormous amount of hosting providers out there. For 1000 MB of space at $7.50 a month -- with great uptime and self-help resources, StartLogic gets our thumbs-up.
